Panini makers...?
I've used four different panini makers and I didn't like any of them. They either burnt the bread or didn't heat the meat enough and I don't want to have to pre-cook the meat because the cheese doesn't melt around the meat and I'm really picky. What would you recomend I use?

- i don't know if you have tried this, but it's much more than a panini maker. i swear by mine. Cuisinart Griddler http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&SKU=13383103&RN=692
- tefal makes good panini makers. i'm quite happy with mine.
- We keep all 4 of our panini makers set to the highest level and they're the 220v pro jobbies. Before we put the sammies on we coat the bread in olive oil and make sure we really press down hard. That's important. It might be that there's not enough heat transferring through to heat it all up.
- I have the Krups panini maker. I got it at Williams-Sonoma and I can honestly say it was worth its price in gold. The bread comes out crispy, the cheese melts to perfection, and the meat is always hot. Although, to get the crispness I like on the bread, I spray some extra light extra virgin olive oil, or just spread a thin layer of butter on there. I have to say that the butter gives it a better flavor but the oil gives it better crispness. I am giving you a link of the EXACT panini maker I have.. http://cgi.ebay.com/Krups-PG7000-Panini-Maker-with-Adjustable-Th-NEW-10288_W0QQitemZ160126655284QQihZ006QQcategoryZ20683QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem
- Do you watch foodtv network? Alton Brown made paninis on a show......he used preheated bricks and cookie sheets. They came out a lovely golden brown color. He also explained the differences in several. :) His show is called Good Eats.
- I don't have an actual "panini" maker but I make mine on the Foreman Grill & they come out great. It shuts itself off so you won't burn the bread but the heat is intense enough to heat all the way thru. My mother doesn't use any kind of grill at all & I think her's are the best. She makes them in a cast-iron skillet & places another cast-iron skillet on top of the sandwich.
- I have a foreman grill and it works perfectily. I will slight heat my meat (Just to take the chill off) and place it on the bread with the cheese and then grill it. My sandwiches turn out perfectly. However if you are starting with raw chicken for safety sake I would suggest grilling this first. But if you are using deli meat, I just pop it in the microwave for 20 seconds before assembly and it is perfect. Good Luck....
