Best Panini Maker

Panini question?

Whats the deal with those Panini's? Why do they charge so much for a grilled cheese sandwich? I seen one at for 8 dollars, and that particular one didnt even have meat, it had tomato and cheese. Are they that good to pay that much?

  1. I think that it is because paninis are a popular trend right now, so because they call a grilled cheese a "panini," they can charge more. It is all in the marketing of a product.
  2. Honestly no, you can get the same wonderful taste from a store brand panini. All it is is bread that has been toasted differently.
  3. I love em, but yes they are pricey so I got myself a panini press and I make them at home!
  4. Panini's are good, no doubt. The bread really makes it. But - you are right it is somewhat ridiculous. I recently went into to a high end sandwich shop and wanted a panini just as you described, tomato and cheese. So - I ordered just that. Then the waitress came to our table with a bunch of sandwiches and said "Chicken Artichoke Panini - no chicken, no artichoke." She kept saying it and saying it and no one claimed it so she took it back to the kitchen. She noticed I was the only one to not have a sandwich and asked me what I had ordered and I told her a panini with cheese and tomato. She got all huffy with me because she had brought that out and I didn't claim it - the chicken artichoke with no chicken and no artichoke evidentially translated to cheese and tomato! Imagine my suprise when my 'grilled cheese' cost me $14. OUT OF CONTROL! lol.
  5. yea they are good but expensive why not just get a panini machine
  6. When I was in Paris many years ago, I got a panini type of sandwich in a bar for a few euros. I had the same thing in Italy for cheap too. In Europe, they are bar food and priced accordingly. Somehow in USA, they became the IN thing to eat and the price skyrocketed. I bought a panini press and make my own now.
