Is it okay to put a sandwich with lettuce & mayo in a panini maker (heated)?

- not the mayo- it will change consistency.
- It's OK to do it, it does make the mayo runny but it won't hurt you. My wife does it....I don't :-)
- yeah, it's great.. but not a lot of mayo.. you'll make a mess
- Agreed about mayo thing, it will get oily, but then you will have warm lettuce. I hate warm wilted, lettuce on my sandwhiches. It need to be chilled and crisp.
- I would add the mayo and the lettuce after you heated it up.
- Absolutely OK, as long as it's to be eaten soon.
- Use a thin layer of mayo for flavor, but the idea behind the panini is that the flavour is pressed out of the sandwich meats into the bread. Feel free to use the mayo, but the lettuce might as well not exist. It's mostly water and will just possibly make for a 'soggy' sandwich. A panini should be crisp, yeah? Enjoy!
- how about this, put everything that won't melt or wilt in the sandwich then place in the panini maker. then you can just spread the mayo, and put in your crisp lettuce after. that's how we do it in the coffeeshop. hope i helped!
- yep...
